Pediatric ER Nurse Role

The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the RN Practice Act, utilizing therapeutic communication, maintaining a safe environment, identifying nursing problems, planning individualized care, participating in quality improvement, and supporting hospital mission and vision.

When acting as charge nurse, responsibilities include staff management, serving as a clinical resource, and ensuring quality care delivery.

Responsibilities include:

• Monitoring and reporting patient symptoms and condition changes.
• Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests.
• Modifying treatment plans based on patient responses.
• Collaborating with healthcare team members on care plans.
• Providing patient and family education on care, disease processes, and discharge instructions.

Qualifications:

• RN licensure by Tennessee Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Current BLS certification.
• At least 1 year of RN experience, Pediatric ER experience highly preferred.
