Job summary

Sound Physicians is seeking a Medical Director in Frederick, MD to lead pediatric emergency medicine efforts at Frederick Health. You will oversee 9 ED beds and 5 inpatient beds and collaborate across hospitalist, observation, adult EM, and critical care teams to drive clinical and operational excellence.

The role features on-site leadership, a patient-first culture, Magnet-status readiness, and a competitive compensation structure with day and night W2 rates and an additional director stipend.

Qualifications

• Board-certified pediatrician with emergency medicine experience.
• At least one year of director or associate director experience preferred.
• Scheduling includes 12-hour physician shifts and swing shifts for APPs, with a flexible work-life balance.

Responsibilities

• Cover 9 ED beds and 5 inpatient beds.
• Annual ED volume 16K with ~3 inpatients to round daily.
• Ensure smooth throughput with hospitalist, observation, adult EM, and critical care teams; target LWBS <3%.
• Magnet-status accreditation with fully staffed nursing and high standard of care.
• Cutting-edge facilities including point-of-care ultrasound, ED pharmacist, and ED social work/case management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for covering 9 beds in the ED and 5 inpatient beds.
• Annual ED volume is 16K with an average of 3 inpatients to round on per day.
• Seamless integration with Sound Physicians’ hospitalist, observation, adult EM, and critical care teams for smooth throughput, ensuring a low LWBS rate of less than 3%.
• We are Magnet-status accredited with fully staffed nursing, ensuring a high standard of care.
• Cutting-edge facilities, including point-of-care ultrasound in the ED, an ED pharmacist, and dedicated ED social work/case management.
