Job summary

East Tennessee Children's Hospital is seeking an END technician or EEG-non registered to support pediatric neurodiagnostics in the Neurology department. Responsibilities include attaching monitoring equipment, documenting recordings, patient education, and ensuring safety during the patient stay.

The role requires maintaining BLS certification, high school diploma or GED (preferred), and prior pediatric electro-diagnostics experience. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills considering the age/population and cognitive abilities.
  • Able to stand, use hands, reach, climb, and talk/hear.
  • Wide range of vision abilities including color and depth perception; awareness of chemical vapors.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and calibrates equipment for testing and applies electrodes according to standards.
  • Documents patient information including history, medications, last seizure, and cognitive state.
  • Reports critical test results to the interpreting physician per policy; documents sedation and effects if used.
  • Removes electrode paste and disinfects electrodes; participates in on-call rotation.
  • Performs EEG and END procedures, ensuring artefact-free data and proper montage; notes observations.
