The ideal candidate will have a BSN, an RN license in Texas, and a minimum of 2 years experience in ECMO. Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years ECMO Specialist experience.
  • Current RN license in the State of Texas.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • Current Texas RN license (or compact).
  • BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, age-appropriate care aligned with ECMO protocols.
  • Operate ECMO machines during pediatric/neonatal emergencies.
  • Collaborate with teams to evaluate care for critically ill patients.
  • Actively participate in rapid response and life‑saving interventions.
  • Develop discharge or transfer plans, considering each patient’s unique needs.
  • Uphold clinical and regulatory standards set by the Texas Board of Nursing and company policies.
  • Support professional growth through mentorship, training, and ongoing education.

Pediatric ECMO Specialist (RN)

Location: Houston, TX

Schedule: Full-time

Department: Pediatric ECMO Program

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Pediatric ECMO Specialist (RN) to join our nationally recognized clients healthcare facility. As part of one of the oldest and most respected ECMO programs in Texas, you’ll play a life‑saving role in supporting critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients during complex cardiopulmonary emergencies.

Our ECMO team is an elite, highly trained group specializing in high‑acuity care. Our department treats approximately 30 patients annually.

Must-Have Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Minimum of 2 years ECMO Specialist experience
  • Prior clinical experience working in pediatrics or NICU populations
  • Current RN license in the State of Texas (or compact license)
  • BLS Certification (additional certifications may be required based on unit)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver safe, age‑appropriate care aligned with ECMO protocols and nursing practice standards
  • Operate and manage extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machines during pediatric/neonatal emergencies
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to plan, deliver, and evaluate care for critically ill patients

  • Develop discharge or transfer plans, considering each patient’s unique needs
