Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is hiring a Pediatric Echo Technologist to perform pediatric echocardiograms and contribute to precise cardiac imaging for inpatient and outpatient care. The role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy, and patient safety in a high-volume cardiology setting.

You will work with physicians and staff to ensure timely scheduling and high-quality results. The ideal candidate has ARDMS/CCI certification, BLS, and 2+ years of echocardiography experience, with proficiency in TEE and stress

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Cardiac Ultrasound Program / 2-D & Doppler program.
  • ARDMS or CCI Certification required (RDCS or RCS).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years echocardiograph experience with proficiency operating standard Cardiac Ultrasound Systems.
  • Demonstrated experience performing TEE and Stress Echo procedures.
  • 6 months of hospital experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality inpatient and outpatient pediatric echocardiograms including 2-D, Doppler, stress echos, and TEE.
  • Evaluate intracardiac disease, anatomy, and heart function with independent judgment.
  • Assist physicians with stress echo and transesophageal testing workflows and prepare results for interpretation.
  • Participate in Process Improvement initiatives and ICAEL accreditation maintenance.
  • Verify physician orders, ensure correct patient identification, and educate patients on upcoming procedures.
  • Maintain and optimize cardiac ultrasound systems and report any defects.
  • Adhere to infection control and patient safety protocols.

Job Title: Pediatric Echo Technologist

Our Pediatric Echo Technologists work collaboratively to promote optimal diagnostic clarity and prevent delays in cardiac care for both inpatient and outpatient populations. By providing comprehensive diagnostic ultrasound programming and high-quality imaging interventions, our technologists proactively engage with pediatric patients to provide connection and clinical clarity. We view our imaging specialists as a critical component of the care plan and recognize the incredibly positive impact they have on the cardiac journey and outcomes of our patients. A Typical Day
  • Performing high-quality inpatient and outpatient pediatric echocardiograms, including 2-D, Doppler, stress echos, and Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE).
  • Evaluating intra-cardiac disease, anatomy, and heart function using independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.
  • Assisting physicians directly with stress echo and transesophageal testing workflows while preparing results for final clinical interpretation.
  • Participating actively in departmental Process Improvement initiatives and assisting in maintaining ICAEL Accreditation.
  • Verifying physician orders, confirming correct patient identification using two distinct identifiers, and safely instructing patients on the upcoming procedure.
  • Leveraging an intimate knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and extensive EKG data to accurately follow technical criteria for preliminary reports.
  • Maintaining complex cardiac ultrasound systems in good working order, adjusting for appropriate settings, and reporting any maintenance defects.
  • Complying strictly with healthcare infection control protocols and department-wide patient safety initiatives.

To be considered
