Job Summary and Qualifications

The Pediatric Cardiovascular Sonographer specializes in performing pediatric echocardiograms, including exercise and pharmacological stress tests, as well as transesophageal echocardiograms. This role requires an understanding of human growth and development and age‑specific treatment ranges to meet the needs of pediatric patients effectively. The sonographer is expected to perform scans independently in critical care settings, ensuring high standards of practice, quality of care, and a patient‑centered approach to service.

Responsibilities
  • Independently perform echocardiograms for pediatric patients.
  • Work Monday‑Friday, 8 a‑4 p or 9 a‑5 p, guaranteed 40 hours, with coverage required in the NICU, PICU, Peds Acute, and Peds ER.
  • Provide support for telecardiology until a new cardiologist is onboarded, requiring strong autonomy and independence in scanning.
  • Conduct bubble studies and use contrast agents when necessary.
  • Maintain, clean, and ensure the proper function of all testing equipment; document probe cleaning status (TD100).
  • Proficiently use the digital acquisition and archival system.
  • Educate patients on procedures.
  • Conduct bedside studies and assist with patient transport as needed.
  • Uphold the facility’s Standards of Performance and ICARE values.
  • Note: No on‑call is required at this time; future requirements may be added as the team expands.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of start date.
  • Registered in Adult Echocardiography (RDMS or CCI) or registry‑eligible, with completion of registry within 12 months of hire.
  • Prior experience in pediatric echocardiography required.
  • Must be comfortable taking scans independently as you may be supporting telecardiology.
  • Experience in critical care environments like the NICU and PICU is highly preferred.
