Job summary

Texas Children's Hospital is seeking an ECHO Sonographer II to perform independent echocardiographic exams on patients from neonates to adults in a fast-paced cardiology setting. The role supports pediatric cardiology, trains staff, maintains Echo Lab operations, and collaborates with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient care.

Candidates must have a Bachelor's in Biological Science or a Technical Diploma in Ultrasound, ARDMS/CCI certifications, and at least one year of pediatric echo

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or Technical Diploma from School of Ultrasound.
• Licenses/Certifications: RDCS, RCS, RCCS, or CRCS as listed in the requirements.
• Minimum 1 year of pediatric echo experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs high-quality normal and complex echocardiographic exams enabling the cardiology staff to diagnose congenital and pediatric heart abnormalities.
• Assists and participates with technical echocardiographic training for technologists, Pediatric Fellows, and visitors.
• Performs daily operational maintenance of Echo Lab supplies and equipment, ensuring safety and readiness of all tools.
• Works with departmental staff and other health care professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs high-quality normal and complex echocardiographic exams enabling the cardiology staff to make accurate diagnoses of various congenital and acquired pediatric heart abnormalities
• Assists and participates with technical echocardiographic training/instruction of technologists, Pediatric Fellows, and visitors on an ongoing schedule
• Performs daily operational maintenance of the Echo Lab supplies and equipment, ensuring that all supplies and equipment are checked for deficiencies and are safe for operation
• Works with departmental staff and other health care professions to ensure high-quality patient care

Skills & Requirements

• Required Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or Technical Diploma from School of Ultrasound
• Required Licenses/Certifications, Need one of the following:
  • RDCS - Cert-Reg Diag. Cardiac Sono by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) OR
  • RCS - Cert-Registered Cardiac SONO by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) OR
  • RCCS - Cert-Reg Congenital Cardi Sono by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) OR
  • Certified Canada Regulatory Cardiac Sonographer from Sonography Canada (CRCS)
• Required 1 year of experience as an echo sonographer in a pediatric environment
• Knowledge of echocardiographic procedures preferred
• Ability to learn ultrasound equipment with specialized Cardiology software and operate at a basic level the following equipment: blood pressure monitor and pulse oximeter, and desktop computer preferred
