Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in pediatric echocardiography
• Completion of an accredited Cardiac Ultrasound program with pediatric focus
• RDCS PE certification preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• Strong understanding of pediatric cardiac anatomy and congenital heart disease
• Ability to perform exams independently in complex clinical settings

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive pediatric cardiac ultrasound examinations, including complex congenital disease
• Independently conduct exams across diagnostic, pre-operative, intraoperative, and postoperative settings
• Plan examination methodology and use lab and portable equipment
• Follow echocardiography protocols and maintain exam quality
• Explain procedures to patients and families and communicate scheduling changes
• Maintain equipment, inventory, and documentation
• Provide guidance to sonographers, trainees, and fellows
• Support clinical research activities and data collection

Job description

This is an opportunity for an experienced Cardiac Sonographer to provide specialized pediatric echocardiography services in a highly collaborative clinical environment. The role will support patients ranging from routine evaluations to complex congenital heart disease, with responsibility for performing comprehensive examinations across diagnostic, pre-operative, intraoperative, and postoperative settings. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, sound clinical judgment, and a patient- and family-centered approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive pediatric cardiac ultrasound examinations, including studies involving complex congenital heart disease.
• Independently conduct examinations across diagnostic, pre-operative, anesthetized, and postoperative settings.
• Plan examination methodology and perform studies using laboratory and portable equipment as required.
• Follow established echocardiography protocols and help maintain consistent examination quality.
• Build supportive relationships with patients and families, explaining procedures and communicating scheduling changes as needed.
• Monitor, maintain, and evaluate echocardiography equipment and ensure appropriate inventory of supplies.
• Maintain required documentation, logs, and clinical records.
• Provide guidance and instruction to sonographers, trainees, and fellows regarding echocardiography procedures and clinical findings.
• Support clinical research activities, including protocol implementation and collection of required clinical data.

Qualifications & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in healthcare, nursing, biology, or a related field preferred.
• Completion of an accredited Cardiac Ultrasound program with training in pediatric echocardiography.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in pediatric echocardiography required; 5 or more years preferred.
• Pediatric Echocardiography (RDCS PE) certification preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification in accordance with American Heart Association standards required.
• Strong understanding of pediatric cardiac anatomy, physiology, and congenital heart disease.
• Ability to perform examinations independently while adapting techniques to complex clinical circumstances.
• Advanced pediatric echocardiography skills and clinical judgment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to examination quality.
• Patient- and family-centered communication skills.
• Ability to remain composed and effective in complex or high-acuity clinical environments.
• Collaborative approach to working with physicians, sonographers, trainees, fellows, and multidisciplinary teams.

• Compensation: $44.97-$71.95 per hour, plus applicable shift differentials and call pay.
