Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital seeks a pediatric dental assistant to support our dental care team. You will prepare treatment rooms, take x-rays, assist dentists, and educate patients and parents to promote oral health.

Responsibilities include sterilizing instruments, passing tools, charting procedures, and managing materials. Requires two years of chairside experience and an Ohio radiography license; Expanded Function certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited dental assistant program or equivalent experience.
• Current license to practice dental radiography in Ohio.
• Board Certified Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary in Ohio.
• Two years of chairside assistant experience.
• Strong communication and patient education abilities.
• Good manual dexterity and ability to manage emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms per procedures and protocols.
• Assist dentist in managing dental emergencies; maintain CPR certs and emergency supplies.
• Sterilize instruments; deliver/instrument for the dentist; suction and pass instruments.
• Prepare materials; mix and place materials in mouth as needed.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and postoperative care.
• Chart dental care services in patient records.
