Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is seeking a dental assistant to support pediatric dental teams.

The role involves chairside assistance during exams and treatments, preparing instruments, taking x-rays, and ensuring clean, ready operatory spaces across clinical and hospital settings. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a preferred completion of an approved dental assistant program, and CPR certification.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved dental assistant program preferred.
• Minimum one year experience in private practice.
• Pediatric dental experience preferred.
• CPR certification required.
• Some computer skills required.
• Ability to travel to different sites as needed.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Mansioni

• Escort patients from waiting room to dental operatory and prepare patients for treatment.
• Arrange instruments, materials and medications on chairside tray per treatment sequence.
• Maintain clean operating areas during procedures.
• Prepare restorative materials and forehand assist during dental/orthodontic procedures.
• Prepare operating room for procedures and assist with anesthesia.
• Ensure dental equipment is functioning in clinic and hospital areas.
• Take x-rays and operate x-ray equipment.
• Perform coronal polishing as directed.
• Prepare instruments and handpieces for sterilization and store after use.
• Keep operatories stocked and clean.
• Answer phones when clerical staff unavailable.
• Prepare patient charts and enter dictated notations.
• Obtain information for scheduling next visits and perform clerical tasks.
• Take dental impressions and coordinate with lab deliveries.
• Assist in medication delivery to providers in a timely manner.
• Orient new/contingent dental assistant staff.
• Participate in department process improvement activities.
• Maintain water purification system and AED logs.
