Job summary

Valley Children’s Hospital is seeking a Day Surgery Charge Nurse to lead a defined patient care unit across the Day Surgery continuum. You will oversee preoperative and postoperative care, coordinate staffing, and ensure smooth patient flow from admission to discharge.

Responsibilities include staff leadership, recruitment, and ensuring competencies while adhering to Nursing Practice Act and hospital policies for high-quality pediatric perioperative care.

Qualifications

• RN license in California (BRN) required.
• BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
• PALS within 12 months of hire or transfer.
• Minimum two years of full-time nursing experience.
• Experience with pediatric patients preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage operations of a defined patient care unit during the shift.
• Monitor, evaluate, and direct patient care provided by staff.
• Coordinate activities of the patient care unit and staff assignments.
• Assist with recruitment, hiring, and staff competency evaluation.
• Operate within Nursing Practice Act and Children's policies.
