HCA HealthONE Rocky Mountain Children’s is seeking a CV Pediatric Surgical Technologist to prepare the pediatric cardiovascular operating room, maintain aseptic technique, and support the surgical team through complex cardiovascular procedures in pediatric and adult congenital patients.

The role involves instrument handling, equipment checks, sterile field maintenance, patient transport, and intraoperative assistance under the Circulating RN.

Qualifications

• The Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgical Technologist plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within the pediatric cardiovascular operating room.

Responsibilities

• Organizes the cardiovascular operating suite with instruments, supplies, and equipment for pediatric and adult congenital cases.
• Reviews daily surgical schedules and physician preference cards to ensure accurate stocking and case preparation.
• Verifies proper functioning and availability of all surgical instruments and cardiovascular equipment prior to procedures.
• Maintains a sterile field and adheres to aseptic technique.
• Prepares for emergencies and add-on cases with urgency and precision.
• Assists in patient transfer, positioning, prepping, and draping per hospital protocols.
• Performs surgical scrub, gowning, and gloving for self and team members.
• Passes instruments, sutures, sponges, medications, and supplies intraoperatively.
• Monitors patient condition and equipment; reports issues promptly.
• Handles surgical specimens per policy; labels and transports accordingly.
• Operates and troubleshoots cardiovascular equipment (heart-lung interfaces, cell savers, ECMO) per guidelines.
• Participates in room turnover and maintains safety and cleanliness.
• Engages in patient safety initiatives and quality improvement.
