Job summary

UVA Health Children’s seeks a Creative Arts Therapist to launch a program that brings music or art therapy into pediatric care while shaping a sustainable, patient- and family-centered model that complements Child Life Services and the broader interdisciplinary team.

You will design and lead individual and group sessions across acute, chronic, and ICU settings, collaborate with medical staff, educate families, and document treatment in the medical record while helping establish workflows and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in art therapy and/or music therapy from an accredited program.
• Certification or eligibility for ATR/ATR-BC/MT-BC within one year of hire.
• 1 year of clinical pediatric healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and facilitate individual and group music or art therapy sessions for pediatric patients across clinical settings.
• Apply evidence-based creative arts interventions addressing physical, emotional, cognitive, developmental and social needs.
• Collaborate with Child Life Services and interdisciplinary medical teams to integrate therapy into care plans.
• Design and implement the new creative arts therapy program including workflows and evaluation tools.
• Participate in rounds and care conferences; educate families about the therapeutic role of creative arts.
