Job summary

University of Virginia in Charlottesville seeks a senior physician leader for the Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs to drive the department's clinical mission and strategic direction. The role oversees clinical enterprise growth, productivity, and financial sustainability while partnering with hospital leadership on system-wide priorities.

As a senior member of the Department of Pediatrics Executive Leadership Team, the VCCA will counsel the Chair, manage faculty engagement, and ensure alignment

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent medical degree and board certification in pediatrics.
• Active Virginia medical license (or eligibility) and UVA Health staff membership in good standing.
• Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience in pediatric medicine (ambulatory and inpatient).
• Demonstrated progressive leadership at divisional, program, or departmental level in an academic medical center.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of the clinical strategic plan for the department.
• Oversee clinical operations to optimize productivity, access and patient experience.
• Guide faculty clinical performance and workforce planning, including staffing models.
• Shape financial stewardship and sustainability of the clinical enterprise.
• Represent the department in system-level clinical governance and lead strategic committees.
