Job summary

The University of Virginia's Department of Pediatrics seeks a Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs (VCCA) to lead UVA Health Children’s clinical mission. Reporting to the Department Chair, the VCCA will guide clinical strategy, program growth, and financial sustainability across ambulatory and inpatient services.

The ideal candidate holds an MD/DO in pediatrics with board certification, a Virginia medical license, and at least 10 years of clinical leadership in an academic setting.

Qualifications

  • MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree with board certification in pediatrics and/or a pediatric subspecialty.
  • Active Virginia medical license (or eligibility for licensure) and UVA Health medical staff membership in good standing.
  • Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience in pediatric medicine, with substantive experience in both ambulatory and inpatient settings.
  • Demonstrated progressive leadership experience at the divisional, program, or departmental level in an academic medical center.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and oversight of clinical strategy, program growth, and financial sustainability for the department's clinical enterprise.
  • Oversee clinical operations, physician workforce, quality initiatives, access, and productivity benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership to align clinical operations with academic and educational missions; governances and committees as assigned.
  • Represent and lead departmental clinical leadership in system-level governance forums; partner with ACMO and other senior leaders.
