Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking a seasoned Child Life Specialist to lead a pediatric program within the Pediatric Service Line. You will collaborate with service line leadership to identify needs, recruit staff, and develop comprehensive patient- and family-centered care plans.

The role includes program development, education, clinical supervision of students and volunteers, and measuring quality with performance metrics to sustain excellence in pediatric care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in child life, psychology, child development, education, or related field required.
• Child life internship required.
• Child life certification required and must be maintained throughout employment.
• Minimum of five years experience as a child life specialist preferred.
• Two years overseeing and developing a child life program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of a pediatric Child Life program within the Pediatric Service Line.
• Develop quality/performance metrics to track program success; participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Provide program leadership, consultation, and daily oversight of Child Life services.
• Conduct developmental assessments and individualized care plans based on patient needs.
• Provide education, coping support, and developmentally appropriate activities to pediatric patients and families.
• Communicate care plans to interdisciplinary teams and families.
• Deliver trainings for Network care teams on developmental care and therapeutic play techniques.
• Represent the child life perspective on hospital committees.
• Supervise students and volunteers, including onboarding and scheduling.
