Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in Atlanta is seeking a Nursing Assistant/Medical Assistant to support patient care areas under supervision of a licensed professional. The role includes administrative duties, call management, updating patient charts, assisting with admissions, transfers, discharges, and basic care tasks; the position requires a high school

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification as Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician or nursing student who has successfully completed one clinical rotation or 1 year of clinical hospital experience.
• 1 year of experience in pediatrics.
• Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative support to unit by answering telephones and nurse call system, taking messages, routing calls, or notifying appropriate individuals.
• Assists licensed professional nurse with admission, transfer, and discharge processes and maintains/verifies patient information in the computer system.
• Assists with basic delivery of patient care and supports nursing activities as assigned.
• Provides coverage at nursing station during critical periods, e.g., assessments and rounds.
• Orders and maintains department and patient care equipment and unit supplies.
