Job summary

University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc. is seeking a versatile Medical Assistant to support clinical and administrative duties under the supervision of a licensed physician. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, preparing patients, documenting records, and assisting with examinations.

The role requires CMA and BLS within a short timeframe, with preferred medical terminology certification. Travel to other clinics may be required; UFJPI is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required at time of hire.
• CMA certification within 6 months of hire.
• BLS certification required at time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
• Medical Terminology Certificate preferred at time of hire.
• MA program accredited by a recognized body is required.

Responsibilities

• Take patient's vital signs and prepare patients for the provider's care.
• Assist with patient examinations or treatments.
• Document all entries in the medical record (electronic or hard copy) with signature, date, and time.
• Administer medication as directed by and under supervision of licensed physician.
• Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms; collect routine laboratory specimens as directed.
• Administer basic first aid.
• Participate in performance improvement projects.
• Act as a care team member in coordinating patient care.
• Provide a standard of excellence in customer service for patients, staff, and other customers.
