Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando is seeking a Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to join the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery team. You will provide comprehensive perioperative care, act as first assist, and travel to outreach clinics to evaluate patients under physician supervision.

The role requires an advanced degree with current PA-C or APRN certification and nursing/physician experience in pediatric cardiac surgery, with a focus on family-centered care and quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree in a PA/APRN program.
• Current NCCPA PA-C or national APRN certification.
• 1–3 years of pediatric cardiac surgery or related experience preferred.
• First assist experience in cardiac surgery required.

Responsibilities

• Provide preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative management of congenital cardiac surgery patients.
• Serve as first assist in adult congenital and pediatric cardiothoracic procedures.
• Travel to outreach clinics to evaluate patients independently or under physician supervision.
• Perform histories, exams, and preoperative evaluations.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests including ECGs, echocardiograms, imaging and labs.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds in CVICU, step-down, and inpatient units.
• Develop, implement, and manage postoperative care and discharge planning.
• Perform bedside procedures and vascular access as credentialed.
• Coordinate transfers, consultations, and continuity of care across the center.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, perfusionists, and staff for patient-centered care.
• Attend postoperative clinic appointments and evaluate new and existing patients.
• Document encounters and participate in outreach clinics as assigned.
