Qualifications

• Graduation from a Cardiovascular/Ultrasound program or equivalent experience.
• Certification by ARDMS as a RDCS or by CCI as an RCCS in Pediatrics required.

Job Description Summary

The Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer II reports to the Perioperative Interventional Cardiology and Imaging Manager. Under indirect supervision, the Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer II provides high-quality echocardiograms for interpretation and diagnosis by a Pediatric Cardiologist in a professional manner that is consistent with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. This role requires independent and efficient performance of clinical Pediatric Echo operations in the hospital and procedural setting, entering full preliminary reports, covering all MUSC Pediatric Echo Lab sites including nights, weekends, and holidays (on call). The role involves organizing and prioritizing patient exams and contributing to team efforts.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a Cardiovascular / Ultrasound program or equivalent experience.
• Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a RDCS or by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as an RCCS in Pediatrics (required).
• Fetal Echocardiography (FE) certification preferred.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years pediatric echocardiography experience performing M-Mode, 2-D, 3-D, Doppler, and color Doppler.
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, and complex congenital heart disease.
• Experience in Pediatric ICU and Pediatric Cath Lab preferred.
• Travel to outreach locations required.
• Current BLS certification (from AHA or Red Cross) required.
