Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston seeks a Physician Assistant or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to provide developmentally appropriate health maintenance for well children, episodic care for ill children, and comprehensive care for children with chronic conditions in a collaborative pediatric setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and Texas PA certification required.
• RN license in Texas or Nursing Licensure Compact required.
• Master’s degree in nursing required.
• PNP-AC strongly preferred.
• FNP, NNP, PNP-BC, WHNP-BC, CPNP-AC, or AG-ACNP from the Texas Board of Nursing required.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical services within the education and training of the PA within the scope of practice and delegation of the supervising physician.
• Obtain a comprehensive health, developmental, and family history and document in the medical record.
• Differentiate between normal and abnormal findings and document appropriately.
• Prescribe or administer medications as delegated by the supervising physician and document in medical records.
• Administer vaccines as observed by physicians and documented in medical records.
• Order diagnostic tests as indicated by differential diagnoses.
• Foster collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to improve health care.
• Establish a relationship with the patient/family characterized by mutual respect, empathy, and collaboration.
• Undergo respiratory fit testing as part of safe workplace standards.

Education

Bachelor's Degree

Master’s degree in nursing

RN license (Texas Board of Nursing or NLC)

PNP-AC strongly preferred

FNP/NNP/PNP-BC/WHNP-BC/CPNP-AC/AG-ACNP (Texas Board of Nursing)
