Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking an experienced Unit Director to oversee nursing and administrative operations in multiple pediatric units. You will manage staffing, budgets, and resource planning while driving program development and policy implementation to improve patient care across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
• Registered Nurse license in California required.
• Minimum two years of supervisor/manager experience in inpatient setting.
• Strong hospital management experience with patient care services expertise.
• Knowledge of hospital/clinic operations and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Develops and oversees operational processes to ensure quality patient care across large departments.
• Participates in patient care practices meeting internal policies and external regulations.
• Partner with leadership across services to coordinate care and develop policies.
• Represent nursing units on committees and address topics affecting care quality and efficiency.
• Provide mentorship to nurse leaders and support succession planning.
• Coordinate staffing and budgetary decisions; review budget variance analyses.
• Collaborate with IT to implement patient care information systems.
• Design and coordinate patient flow and staffing plans.
• Work with labor relations on collective bargaining issues and HR risk management.
