Job summary

The City of New York seeks experienced Special Officer/Peace Officer for Bronx District Attorney’s Office. Under supervision, the officer will ensure security, maintain order, monitor systems, and respond to emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent approved by a state education department.
• Must be qualified to serve as Peace Officers per NYS CPL; certification maintained throughout employment.
• 55a Program eligibility for qualified disabled persons.

Responsibilities

• Screens employees and visitors.
• Operates and monitors security equipment; reports maintenance needs.
• Gives routine information to visitors and directs them to proper offices.
• Patrols areas to maintain order and safety.
• Make clock rounds and report hazards; fire safety awareness.
• Arrests and issues summonses when appropriate; transport and testify as needed.
• Responds to emergencies and assists with Emergency Action Plan.
• Provides assistance to ill or disabled; administers first aid if certified.
• Records actions in memo book and maintains logs.
• Under supervision, performs all other duties.
