Peace & Justice Center Manager of Training and Civic Engagement (PJCMTCE) (Full-time, 40 hours) Exempt

BUILD, Inc. (Broader Urban Involvement and Leadership Development) is seeking a committed, self-motivated, and innovative individual to join our team. BUILD is a respected gang intervention, violence prevention, and youth development organization based on Chicago’s West Side, working since 1969 to mentor youth and serve families in challenged neighborhoods. The Peace and Justice Center will offer workshops, training, youth and adult programs, and events to uplift Westside communities. The (PJCMTCE) will organize, design, and coordinate these activities, ensuring they are community-responsive. The role involves developing a vision for community engagement through restorative justice, civic participation, and educational programs, supervising youth leadership development, and managing a calendar of community events. Collaboration with the Continuous Quality Improvement team on surveys and evaluations is also required. The ideal candidate will have strong community ties, expertise in restorative justice, youth development, community empowerment, and education. The (PJCMTCE) reports directly to the Director of the Peace & Justice Center.

Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To
  • Design curricula for training, workshops, speaker series, civic engagement, and educational events tailored to Westside needs.
  • Organize logistics, content, and deliverables for events.
  • Conduct community outreach and maintain partnerships with organizations providing engagement activities.
  • Manage recruitment and enrollment for adult programs.
  • Supervise the PJC Coordinator of Youth Leadership Development.
  • Assist with tracking, grant reporting, and documentation of events.
  • Participate in community meetings and partner events.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Partnerships and PJC Director.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and site visits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • At least 3 years managing teams and programs.
  • Experience in restorative justice training and facilitation of peace circles.
  • Experience with civic engagement, community stakeholders, CPS, and faith-based organizations.
  • Curriculum development experience.
  • Community collaboration and coalition-building skills.
  • Youth development experience.
  • Familiarity with the communities served is preferred.
  • Proficiency in data, program evaluation, Microsoft, and Google platforms.
  • Budget planning experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication and strategic planning skills.
  • Flexible schedule for evening and weekend events.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
