Peace & Justice Center Manager of Training and Civic Engagement (PJCMTCE) (Full-time, 40 hours) Exempt

BUILD, Inc. (Broader Urban Involvement and Leadership Development) is seeking a committed, self-motivated, and innovative individual to join our team. Based on Chicago’s West Side, BUILD is a respected organization dedicated to gang intervention, violence prevention, and youth development since 1969. We work to save lives and mentor young people in challenged neighborhoods, making a significant difference to the youths and families we serve.

The Peace and Justice Center will offer workshops, training, youth and adult programs, and events to uplift Westside communities. The (PJCMTCE) will organize, design, and coordinate these events, ensuring they respond to community input. The role involves developing a vision for community engagement through restorative justice training, civic engagement, and educational opportunities. The (PJCMTCE) will supervise the Supervising Coordinator of Youth Leadership Development and integrate youth work into the center's vision. The role oversees the execution of a calendar of community-facing events and collaborates with the Continuous Quality Improvement team on surveys, data collection, and evaluation. Ideal candidates will have deep connections in Westside communities and expertise in restorative justice, youth development, community empowerment, and education. The (PJCMTCE) reports to the Director of the Peace & Justice Center.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Designing curricula for training, workshops, speaker series, and civic engagement events tailored to community needs.
  2. Organizing logistics, content, and deliverables for events.
  3. Conducting community outreach.
  4. Maintaining partnerships with organizations involved in community engagement and overseeing their coordination.
  5. Managing recruitment and enrollment for adult programs.
  6. Supervising the PJC Coordinator of Youth Leadership Development.
  7. Assisting with tracking and grant reporting.
  8. Attending community, partner meetings, and events as needed.
  9. Maintaining records and overseeing documentation, tracking, and evaluation of programs.
  10. Collaborating with the Manager of Partnerships and the Director of the PJC.
  11. Participating in staff meetings, trainings, and site visits.
  12. Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree required.
  2. 3-5 years of related experience.
  3. At least 3 years managing teams and programs.
  4. Experience in restorative justice training and facilitating peace circles.
  5. Experience with civic engagement, community collaboration, and youth development.
  6. Familiarity with BUILD's communities is preferred.
  7. Proficiency in data analysis and program evaluation.
  8. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google platforms.
  9. Strong communication and strategic planning skills.
  10. Flexible schedule for evenings and weekends.
  11. Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
