The Registered Nurse (Hospital-Based) is a competent professional responsible for delivering nursing care to patients of varying age groups by utilizing the nursing process and practice standards. The role involves:

  1. Applying nursing practice competencies to ensure safe, patient- and family-centered care outcomes;
  2. Using leadership skills to coordinate care and communicate with the healthcare team;
  3. Developing professionally through ongoing learning and practice;
  4. Evaluating care outcomes based on evidence, quality models, and safety goals.

The RN demonstrates competency in caring for complex patients and collaborates with the care team to improve care quality.

We are hiring RNs at Peace Hospital - Adult Chemical Dependency Unit, 1 East

Location: 2020 Newburg Road, Louisville, KY 40205

Shift: 7p-7a, Full-time

About Us: Peace Hospital, part of UofL Health, is a leading behavioral health hospital providing care for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Our services include inpatient, partial hospitalization, and specialty programs for complex treatment needs.

Under supervision, the RN will:

  1. Perform comprehensive assessments to ensure patient safety and collaborate with the healthcare team;
  2. Administer medications, assess effects, and document in compliance with policies;
  3. Plan and coordinate care with patients and families, incorporating current knowledge and safety standards;
  4. Identify and prioritize patient problems, implementing appropriate interventions;
  5. Evaluate care effectiveness and modify plans as needed;
  6. Educate patients and families, ensuring understanding and satisfaction;
  7. Advocate for patients, respecting their rights and preparing them for discharge;
  8. Work collaboratively with unlicensed staff, ensuring safe care.

The position also involves:

  1. Maintaining professional conduct and appearance;
  2. Mentoring new staff and supervising students;
  3. Possibly acting as relief charge nurse;
  4. Engaging in continuing education and evidence-based practices;
  5. Participating in team communication and conflict resolution;
  6. Using resources efficiently and complying with policies and HIPAA standards.

Shift requirements include typical 8-12 hour shifts with some flexibility. Overtime may be required occasionally.

Qualifications include licensure (NLC accepted), adherence to standards, and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
