Job summary

AE Works seeks a licensed Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC design and project coordination across diverse building projects. You will work with clients, architects, and engineers to deliver high-quality designs from concept through construction, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.

Expect travel to client sites in Pittsburgh, PA or Washington, DC as needed. The role emphasizes technical leadership, documentation, QA/QC, and mentorship to grow the team’s capabilities in energy-efficient

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architectural or mechanical engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years of building industry experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and construction administration of HVAC systems for new and renovated projects.
• Provide technical leadership on thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science.
• Collaborate with clients, architects and engineers; communicate design intent and solutions.
• Develop system specifications, technical reports, and construction documents.
• Ensure QA/QC of designs; uphold safety, reliability and regulatory compliance.
• Mentor junior staff and foster design standards within the team.
• Engage in interviews/presentations to support new business opportunities.
