Job summary

Dayton Independent School District seeks an Instructional Assistant – P. E. Aide to support the Physical Education program. Under the supervision of the principal and certified teachers, you will assist with instructional activities, student care, and classroom/gym operations.

The role requires a Texas educational aide certificate or equivalent, plus ability to follow directions and communicate effectively. Immediate starting date and nonexempt status are noted.

Qualifications

• Valid Texas educational aide certificate or equivalent.
• 2 years of college coursework or higher.
• Associates degree or higher or ESSA qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and supervising student athletic experience activities.
• Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom/gymnasium displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom/gymnasium.
• Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment.
• Instruct students under the direction of the teacher.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Help teachers master and implement new instructional ideas and strategies.
• Help individual students adapt materials to meet those needs.
• Establish and maintain high standards of student conduct and an effective learning climate.
• Encourage students to think independently and express original ideas.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transfers and personal care.
• Help manage behavior, including crisis intervention when needed.
