Job description

Join to apply for the PE/Health Teacher (Grades: 9-12) role at Dallas Independent School District

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support the building principal to ensure on-site administration, implementation of the district's educational programs, policies, regulations, and quality instruction in a safe and healthy environment.

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the district's curriculum requirements, with documented evidence of preparation.
  2. Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter following guidelines from the Texas Education Agency, Board policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Establish effective classroom management procedures.
  5. Maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  6. Implement a student evaluation system within legal and district guidelines.
  7. Evaluate and record student progress regularly, reporting to parents as needed.
  8. Teach within the prescribed course of study for the relevant grade level and subject area.
  9. Plan lessons aligned with subject objectives, including substitute plans.
  10. Use diverse media and methods to motivate students and optimize instructional time.
  11. Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  12. Be available for counseling students and parents outside class hours.
  13. Participate in community engagement activities like open houses and PTA meetings.
  14. Coordinate efforts with aides and other staff when applicable.
  15. Contribute to the evaluation process of the principal's assessment system.
  16. Maintain accurate student records and complete required reports and documentation.
  17. Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit, handle objects, speak, and hear; frequently reach with hands and arms; occasionally stand and walk; routinely lift up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision.

Work Environment: Usually moderate noise level. District-wide travel is required. This is a campus-based role requiring regular on-site presence; remote work is not an option.
