Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate is required.
• Paraprofessional MISD test must be passed.
• 48 college hours/associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Conduct instructional exercises with individuals or small groups.
• Supervise scholars during the school day (lunch, bus, playground).
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual scholars.
• May work at elementary or secondary campus.
• Participate in staff development and faculty meetings.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Valid Texas educational aide certificate

Paraprofessional test (MISD)

48 College Hours/Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
