Job summary

Guthrie is seeking a Student Nurse Care Partner to support direct patient care under the guidance of licensed nurses. This per diem role provides hands-on clinical experience while contributing to compassionate, high-quality patient care in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Nursing student enrolled in an accredited program.
• Able to participate in per diem shifts including weekends/holidays.
• Comfort with lifting and assisting patients as part of care tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hygiene, feeding, and daily care under RN/LPN supervision.
• Support with mobility, transfers, and positioning using Safe Patient Handling procedures.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition to the care team.
• Provide basic bedside care and maintain a clean, safe patient environment.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary care planning and patient comfort.

Role Summary

The Student Nurse Care Partner works under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct patient care for diverse patient populations. This role offers nursing students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a clinical setting while supporting patient care, assisting the healthcare team, and developing professional nursing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lifting, turning, and positioning patients utilizing Safe Patient Handling equipment (> 35 pounds), as appropriate.
• Observing confused and difficult patients.
• AM/PM Hygiene care.
• Toileting, shaving, washing, brushing hair, dental and mouth care.
• Feeding.
• Assisting with range of motion exercises.
• Mobilizing patients – transfers and ambulation, utilizing Safe Patient Handling equipment (> 35 pounds), as appropriate and following the Mobility protocol.
• Exercise protocols.
• Discontinuing foley catheter.
• Simple dressing changes.
• Incentive spirometry supervision.
• Surgical preps.
• Postmortem care.
• Administers cleansing enemas.
