Purposes: To establish an eligibility list for the position of Police Technician I.
Position Summary: This is a customer service position that requires processing and auditing a variety of records including stolen autos, missing persons, frauds, forgeries, and protection orders. Provides audit, entry, indexing, storage, maintenance, retrieval, and dissemination of Police Department records in accordance with federal, state and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations; collects payment for the sale of police reports and photographic fees when applicable. Trained in the areas of Local, Mules, and NCIC terminal information, including records retrieval and microfilming. Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent with one year experience of related duties is preferred. Selected applicants will be asked to take a typing test (35 wpm). Within the first six (6) months of hiring, candidates must pass a written examination on the Missouri Sunshine Laws, complete NIMS training, and be MULES certified. Position requires the ability to maintain multiple computer systems at one time. Must be able to work rapidly, accurately, and process cash record sales according to procedure. Requires ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and demonstrate initiative within established guidelines. Requires a background check, drug test, polygraph test, oral board interview, and psychological examination.
Physical Demands: Occasionally required to use a maximum of 15 lbs. of force to move or lift objects. Requires hand dexterity for office machine operation, with occasional stooping and bending to files and supply shelves. Frequent sitting for extended periods of time.
Typical Working Conditions: Normal office environment with occasional interactions with various citizens.
You must be available to work ANY shift. Must be available for shift work and weekend work. Days off rotate every 28 days. Hours of work: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. / 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. / 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Additional Requirements: Requires a valid driver’s license and random drug testing.
