Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a PD Physicist for the Radiation Oncology department at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ. You will work with physicians, dosimetrists, therapists, and clinical staff to ensure accurate treatment planning and QA standards for safe radiation therapy delivery.

Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Medical Physics, strong programming skills, and solid English communication. Position is per diem with day shifts and hourly compensation.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Medical Physics from an accredited program.
• Strong verbal and written communication in English.
• Experience in radiation therapy treatment planning, dosimetry, QA, and radiation safety preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development and implementation of Radiation Oncology QA program.
• Perform treatment planning, dose calculations, and brachytherapy source management.
• Calibrate, test, and QA checks on linear accelerators, simulators, and related equipment.
• Review and verify treatment plans and patient records for accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with physicians and dosimetrists on complex planning and technical challenges.
• Measure and evaluate dosimetric characteristics of treatment units.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs as needed.
• Design and evaluate specialized treatment devices and shielding requirements.
• Provide education and training to staff and patients on procedures.

As a Physicist at RWJBarnabas Health, you will play a vital role in supporting the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy treatments. Working closely with physicians, dosimetrists, therapists, and clinical staff, you will help ensure treatment accuracy, maintain quality assurance standards, oversee dosimetric calculations, and support advanced radiation oncology technologies to provide exceptional patient care.

A Typical Day for a Physicist May Include:

• Assisting with the development and implementation of the Radiation Oncology Quality Assurance Program.
