Job description

Department/Unit: Radiation Oncology Physics & Dosimetry
Work Shift: Day (United States of America)
Salary Range: $193,467.00 - $319,221.00

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and annual quality assurance (QA) of radiation therapy equipment.
• Carry out machine calibration and dosimetric measurements.
• Conduct patient‑specific QA for IMRT, VMAT, SRS, and SBRT treatments.
• Perform weekly chart checks and treatment plan reviews.
• Support image‑guided radiation therapy and brachytherapy procedures.
• Execute acceptance testing, commissioning, and validation of new equipment and software.
• Investigate and resolve equipment or treatment delivery issues.
• Maintain accurate QA documentation.
• Ensure compliance with departmental, state, and federal regulations.
• Assist with internal and external audits as needed.
• Participate in radiation safety activities and quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to support patient treatments.
• Provide technical consultation regarding treatment planning and dose delivery.
• Assist with troubleshooting equipment and workflow issues.
• Maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies and clinical best practices.
• Participate in departmental meetings and educational activities.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree or PhD in Medical Physics or a related field from an accredited institution (required).
• 1–3 years of experience with IMRT, VMAT, SRS/SBRT, IGRT, and the Eclipse treatment planning system (required).
• Americium Board of Radiology Certificate in Therapeutic Medical Physics within 180 days (required).
• Licensure in NYS or a permit to practice therapeutic medical physics within 180 days (required).
• Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
