• Registered or Registry eligible by the ARRT.
• 2-5 years of radiation therapy experience.
• Successful completion of all orientation programs.
• Maintains required BLS Heart Saver/Health Care Provider through American Heart Association

• Communicates clearly with healthcare team, patients and families.
• Completes Simulation and Treatment summaries, reports documentation accurately.
• Educates patients regarding procedures, skin care, side effects and nutrition.
• Operates therapeutic equipment and ensures proper patient positioning.
• Performs Simulation procedures and prepares immobilization devices.
• Performs daily, weekly and monthly warm up and quality assurance procedures.
• Serves as a technical resource for implementing new techniques or technology.

A Typical Day For a Radiation Therapist May Include

• Adheres to strict radiation safety guidelines
• Communicates clearly and concisely with all members of the healthcare team, patients and families
• Completes all Simulation and Treatment summaries, reports documentations accurately
• Educates and observes patients regarding procedures, skin care, side effects and nutrition
• Interprets and implements prescription and treatment plan as directed by the Radiation Oncologist
• Operates therapeutic equipment, demonstrates proper patient positioning and monitoring of the patient during treatment
• Performs Simulation procedures and prepares immobilization devices for various anatomical sites
• Performs all other duties as assigned
• Performs daily, weekly and monthly warm up and quality assurance procedures
• Serves as a technical resource person for implementing new techniques or technology
