Job summary

First Choice Nurses in Virginia is hiring experienced PCU Registered Nurses for per diem hospital shifts throughout Hampton Roads. You can pick up an occasional extra shift or build a fuller schedule, and you choose the shifts that fit your life.

Shifts run 7a-7p and 7p-7a. As a PCU RN, you will provide high-quality patient care within acute-care hospital environments, monitor patients, administer medications, document in EMR, and collaborate with care teams while upholding infection-control

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license.
• Minimum 2 years PCU nursing experience within the past 4 years.
• Current AHA BLS.
• Current AHA ACLS.
• Current QuantiFERON-TB Gold test within the past 12 months.
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption.

Responsibilities

• Assessing, monitoring, and documenting patient conditions.
• Monitoring cardiac rhythms and changes in patient status.
• Administering medications, IV therapies, and ordered treatments.
• Collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams.
• Maintaining accurate and timely electronic medical records.
• Following facility infection-control and patient-safety standards.
• Educating patients and families regarding care and discharge plans.
• Adapting professionally to different hospital units and environments.
