UAB Medicine in Pell City, AL, is seeking a PRN nurse aide for Med Surg with rotating shifts. The role supports basic patient care under supervision and participates in patient ambulation, daily living activities, and safety.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire.
• High School diploma or equivalent, or 1 year of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with ambulation and daily living activities.
• Assist dismissed patients to vehicles safely.
• Attend to personal care and activities of daily living.
• Report changes in physical, mental, or emotional condition to nursing staff and document records.
• Keep patient rooms clean and maintain medical equipment.
• Perform duties such as oxygen setup, catheter care, pulse oximetry, specimen collection and EKGs as directed.
• Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs/outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.

• Assist patients with ambulation as necessary. This may include helping them to a recliner in their room, walk to the bathroom or down the hall. Assist dismissed patients in getting safely to their vehicles.
• Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Documents necessary records.
• Keeps patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintains medical equipment.
• Performs certain technical patient care duties in the hospital as directed by the staff nurse such as oxygen setup, foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection and EKGs.
• Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
