Job description

May perform a wide variety of advanced patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, maintaining the patient care and unit environment in accordance with policies, procedures, and practices. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range of their assigned clinical area.

Hours and Work Schedule

• Hours: 7 AM - 5:30 PM, 10-hour shifts, 4 days a week
• Weekends: Up to every other weekend
• Holidays: Up to every other holiday
• Travel: Supports patients in their homes in Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties; uses company fleet vehicle stationed in Pittston

• High School Diploma or GED required

Job Responsibilities

• Provides enhanced patient care under the licensed nurse’s direction, including advanced dressing care, suctioning, removal of Foley Catheter, and peripheral IV
• May perform venipunctures and skin punctures according to CLSI guidelines
• Documents patient information accurately to ensure complete medical records
• Monitors and reports patient condition changes promptly
• Obtains and maintains specimen integrity per policy and physician orders
• Assists with activities of daily living, patient hygiene, and linen changes
• Processes and transports specimens to the laboratory timely
• Performs point-of-care testing and maintains related equipment
• Participates in troubleshooting and maintaining equipment and supplies
• Serves as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students
• Handles clerical duties related to admissions, transfers, discharges, and orders
• Coordinates transportation for tests and communicates electronically as needed
• Assists in ordering supplies and managing medication storage and transportation
• Supports blood product transportation and discharge follow-up
• Participates in regulatory readiness activities
