West Jefferson Medical Center, part of LCMC Health, is seeking a Certified Patient Care Tech (PCT) to join a compassionate care team. You will support RNs with direct patient care, perform essential procedures, and document accurately in the EMR while maintaining patient safety and comfort.

The role emphasizes teamwork, bedside empathy, and timely communication with the care team. Prior CNA/PCT or MA certifications and a current BLS are highly valued.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum 1 year of clinical care experience or CNA/PCT exposure.
• Certifications listed in Must-Haves (MA, CNA, CPCT/A, PCT) are preferred.
• Basic life support (BLS) certification is expected.

• Perform assigned priority clinical procedures and maintain a safe patient environment.
• Provide care such as CPR, ADLs, restorative care, vital signs, patient transfers, and phlebotomy as directed.
• Document in the electronic medical record and manage room setup and supply inventory.
• Prioritize tasks based on acuity, resource availability, and patient needs.
• Report abnormal patient findings to the RN and take corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to improve patient care and seek supervision when needed.

You are part of a team concept, under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Therapist, performing delegated patient care in a safe and efficient manner, completing documentation of patient related tasks and adhering to the policies and procedures. Your Everyday

Perform assigned priority technical procedures and maintain a safe environment for patients.

Provide care services like basic life support (CPR), Adl's, restorative care, calculates intake and output, lifting, ambulating, transferring, positioning, weights, equipment use, vital signs, phlebotomy, dressing changes, obtaining Ekg's, etc.

Prepare patient room, chart in the electronic medical record, clean unit equipment, orders inventory medical/office supplies and perform other tasks as needed

Prioritize assigned tasks and patient care activities based on acuity of the need, resource availability, customer/patient preference/request and other departmental needs.

Report abnormal patient findings and situations to RN or other licensed healthcare provider and take actions to correct unsafe conditions.

Give rationale for actions or decisions based on logic, successful experience, intuition, and/or established policies/procedures.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to identify actions to improve patient care:

Seek supervision or assistance when unable to perform effectively or safely, and independently.

Initiate and/or maintain job specific interventions to assure continuity of safe and effective care for patients.

Delegate tasks to other team members to accomplish direct patient care or support activities.

Question appropriateness of a task that has been delegated by the RN/Licensed healthcare provider for clarification of concerns.

The Must-Haves

Minimum:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, appropriate work experience.
• 1 year of Clinical Care experience; CNA or PCT experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (MA) - American Association of Medical Assistants or
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) - Louisiana State Department of Health
• Certified Patient Care or Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) - National Health careers Association or
• Certified Patient Care Technician (PCT) - National Health careers Association
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Non-Violent Crisis Prevention (CPI, NCI-CPI) - Crisis Prevention Institute
