The PCT Coach provides leadership and mentoring to other direct care staff in the areas of building therapeutic relationships, providing trust-building, strength based individualized care that is consistent with the child’s treatment plan, and using the least restrictive interventions necessary while upholding the rights and dignity of children and their families at all times. Provides direct care to psychiatric minor patients while modeling and coaching other staff on positive work habits as they relate to patient care, and as such this position is considered “essential” and is expected to report as scheduled during emergency events.
A fingerprint-based criminal history check and reference checks are required for the selected candidate for this position. Under Virginia Code 37.2-314 and 37.2-408.1, the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services is prohibited from employing or using as volunteers, persons who have been convicted of specific “barrier” crimes or persons who may be the subject of pending “barrier” charges.
DBHDS facilities are no longer required to ensure that all staff members are vaccinated against COVID-19. However, facilities encourage and educate staff on the benefits, and continue to offer COVID-19 vaccination programs to staff, residents/clients. Successful completion of TOVA and CPR. Ability to work overtime if needed. Ability to observe and describe observations orally and in writing. Must possess basic computer literacy skills.
Previous experience in a similar position assisting with the treatment of child and adolescent mental health issues, and/or knowledge of child and adolescent mental health issues and resources from other training source preferred
