Job summary

Actalent is seeking a PCB Manufacturing Engineer to support PCBA operations in Lake Forest, CA. The role focuses on SMT assembly, process improvement, and interfacing with design and production teams to ensure robust manufacturing and high-yield products.

The position involves NPI validation, ECOs, and documentation control, with opportunities to grow into leadership within a stable, technology-forward environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in PCB, PCBA, or electronics manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on PCB and PCBA manufacturing engineering experience, particularly in SMT.
• Strong knowledge of SMT processes including solder paste printing, pick-and-place, reflow, and through-hole assembly.
• Experience providing DFM feedback and interfacing with design and production teams.
• Proven root cause analysis and corrective action implementation skills.
• Ability to create and maintain BOMs, WIs, routers, process flows, and ECOs.
• Familiarity with IPC standards and ISO 9001, AS9100, and related ISO standards.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience with process improvement in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Support and improve PCB/PCBA manufacturing processes with a focus on SMT and efficiency.
• Collaborate with design engineers to review PCB designs for manufacturability.
• Develop, update, and maintain manufacturing docs: WIs, BOMs, routers, and ECOs.
• Troubleshoot on the production floor and implement corrective actions.
• Support NPI, validating processes and transitioning products to production.
• Work with production and quality to resolve process, assembly, and component issues.
• Analyze data to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
• Assist with process validation, Lean, Six Sigma, and SPC initiatives.
• Support configuration management and document control.
