Job description

Randstad, in partnership with our client in their Corporation Luxury Division – McIntosh Laboratories

Where Sound Meets Craftsmanship: Join McIntosh Laboratory

We are seeking a highly skilled PCB Manufacturing Engineer who shares our passion for precision and continuous improvement to ensure the exceptional quality that defines the McIntosh brand. This role is based at the historical manufacturing facility in Binghamton, NY.

Position Summary

As a McIntosh PCB Manufacturing Engineer, you will be a vital member of the Luxury Engineering business unit within Bose, focused heavily on the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and Printed Wiring Board (PWB) lifecycle. You will act as the crucial link between electrical design and repeatable, high-quality manufacturing, driving both efficiency and adherence to premium standards in high-end audio production.

Key Responsibilities
  • PCB Life Cycle Management: Lead all PC board development and production activities, including item master generation, PCB drawing creation, SMD stencil drawings, prototype board request management, and engineering change management (ECOs).
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Collaborate closely with design engineering from concept through launch to ensure smooth transition from prototype (NPI) to high-volume production, specifically optimizing PCB designs for high-yield assembly.
  • Process Development & Improvement: Develop, document, and continuously improve assembly and test processes for electronic and electro-mechanical audio products, focusing on soldering, component placement, and final board testing.
  • Tooling & Fixturing: Specify, design, and implement advanced jigs, fixtures, and production tooling for PCB assembly and handling to enhance assembly consistency and worker ergonomics.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Monitor manufacturing performance, leading root cause investigations and corrective actions to resolve quality or yield problems, particularly related to solder joint quality, component placement, and board fabrication defects.
  • Process Analysis: Conduct time studies, process capability analysis, and workflow optimization to implement Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives, reducing waste and improving yield.
  • Documentation: Establish and validate process documentation, including detailed work instructions, routings, and Bill of Materials (BOM) validation.
Qualifications for a Great Fit
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 1–5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering, with a strong focus on electronics or electro-mechanical assembly environments.
  • NPI Expertise: Proven experience introducing new products to production (NPI) and creating supporting documentation.
  • Tool Proficiency: Proficiency with ECAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD) and experience with ERP/MRP systems. MCAD familiarity (e.g., SolidWorks) is a plus.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, process control, and failure analysis techniques, especially as applied to PCB assembly.
  • Aptitude: Exceptional hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude with a passion for precision assembly and craftsmanship.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
