Job summary

Corvid Technologies in Alabama is seeking an experienced PCB Designer to lead the complete PCB design cycle, including ECAD layout, library creation, and multi-layer routing for IPC Class 2/3 designs. The role requires collaboration with electrical and mechanical teams to ensure accurate schematics, STEP models, and DFM/DFT reviews.

You will drive component creation and library standards in Altium, advocate impedance control and signal integrity best practices, and contribute to cost-reduction

Qualifications

• Candidate must be a US Citizen.
• Experience with Altium Designer including ECAD layout and library tasking.
• Knowledge of impedance control, stack‑up design, SI/EMI best practices preferred.
• CID or CID+ certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Layout Execution: multi-layer PCB routing for IPC Class 2/3 designs with high-speed interfaces and power circuits.
• Output Generation: fabrication and assembly packages (Gerber, ODB++, drill files, Pick-and-Place, drawings).
• 3D Modeling: include STEP models for components; ensure PCB‑to‑enclosure fitment; Altium CoDesigner.
• Component Creation: create & maintain schematic symbols and footprints (IPC‑7351); lifecycle management.
• Standards Knowledge: IPC‑6011, IPC‑6012, IPC‑6013, IPC‑2221/2/3, IPC‑7351, J‑STD‑001.

Job description

Corvid Technologies' growing product portfolio requires the addition of an experienced PCB Designer to support a variety of current and planned programs. The ideal candidate possesses dedicated ECAD layout and library experience, demonstrating deep expertise through the complete PCB design cycle. This role requires a hybrid specialist capable of managing complex multi-layer routing while driving end-to-end component creation and lifecycle management.

The engineer in this role will work collaboratively with technical groups across the organization that require electronic hardware for their respective programs. Candidate will work closely with electrical engineers to create/maintain hierarchical schematics as well as coordinating with suppliers (and engineers) to conduct DFM, DFA (Assembly), and DFT (Test) reviews ensuring higher yields and lower production costs. While supporting PCB development, candidate will work to establish component and library standards, including naming conventions and layer assignments.

Typical tasking will include:

• Layout Execution: Perform multi-layer PCB routing on IPC Class 2 and Class 3 designs, including high-speed digital interfaces, sensitive analog signals, signal conditioning, power supply circuits, and fast high current dump loops in flex, rigid‑flex, and rigid designs
• Output Generation: Prepare comprehensive fabrication and assembly packages (Gerber, ODB++, Drill files, Pick‑and‑Place, Fabrication, and Assembly drawings).
• 3D Modeling: Integrate accurate STEP models for all components to ensure precise mechanical clearance checking. Altium CoDesigner preferred. Coordinate with Mechanical Engineers to ensure PCB‑to‑Enclosure fitment.
• Component Creation: Develop and maintain schematic symbols and high‑density PCB footprints (IPC‑7351 compliant) within the Altium environment. Component lifecycle management experience preferred.
• Standards Knowledge: IPC‑6011, IPC‑6012, IPC‑6013, IPC‑2221, IPC‑2222, IPC‑2223, IPC‑7351, J‑STD‑001.

Requirements:

• Candidate must be a US Citizen
• Demonstrated experience with Altium Designer, including for ECAD layout and library tasking
• Experience with impedance control and stack‑up design is beneficial, knowledge of signal integrity (SI) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) best practices are preferred
• CID (Certified Interconnect Designer) or CID+ certification is preferred
