Job summary

Dayton Children's Hospital South Campus is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support the Emergency Department/Urgen t Care team on a part-time basis. You will assist with patient care tasks under the supervision of the nursing staff and help ensure patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities include vital signs, intake/output, ADL assistance, and safe patient transport, with cross-training for clerical and clinical duties.

Qualifications

• Education: HSD/GED is required.
• PCA training or experience; actively enrolled in health care related program.
• 1-2 years STNA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist nurse in patient care activities with attention to developmental level.
• Record vital signs, intake/output, and ADLs; report changes.
• Provide safe transport and maintain a clean, safe patient environment; cross-train for clinical/clerical tasks.

Job Details:

Responsible for assisting the nurse in completion of patient care activities, taking into consideration the patient's developmental levels. Demonstrates strong communication skills, accepts delegated tasks and has the knowledge and understanding to ask questions and report patient information as indicated. Appropriately handles patient information understanding confidentiality and privacy. Complies with the safety management program designed to provide a physical environment free of hazards and to reduce the risk of injury. Is knowledgeable about and responsive to the mission of the hospital. The PCA promotes a patient and family experience oriented environment and acts as a change agent to meet the rapidly changing census and needs of all customers-both internal and external. The PCA measures and records vital signs, intake and output, assists patients with activities of daily living, and provides safe transportation and environment for patients. The PCA is cross trained to support the clinical and clerical sides of the business.

Job Description
Education:

HSD/GED is required

Experience:

PCA training or PCA experience or actively enrolled in a health care related education program is required
1-2 years STNA experience in hospital setting is preferred

Certification/Licensure:

CPR is preferred at hire, but must be obtained within 2 weeks of start date
