Job summary

Dayton Children's Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support nursing staff on the 7th Floor Tower. You will help with routine patient care tasks, monitor comfort, and ensure safety for children across developmental levels.

This full-time role requires HSD/GED, PCA training or related study, and ideally 1-2 years of STNA hospital experience. CPR is preferred at hire, with training to be completed within two weeks.

Qualifications

  • HSD/GED is required.
  • PCA training or experience or actively enrolled in a health care related education program is required.
  • 1-2 years STNA experience in hospital setting is preferred.
  • CPR is preferred at hire, but must be obtained within 2 weeks of start date.

  • Assisting patients with activities of daily living and safe transportation.
  • Cross-trained to support clinical and clerical sides of the business; report patient information as indicated.

Responsible for assisting the nurse in completion of patient care activities, taking into consideration the patient’s developmental levels. Demonstrates strong communication skills, accepts delegated tasks and has the knowledge and understanding to ask questions and report patient information as indicated. Appropriately handles patient information understanding confidentiality and privacy. Complies with the safety management program designed to provide a physical environment free of hazards and to reduce the risk of injury. Is knowledgeable about and responsive to the mission of the hospital. The PCA promotes a patient and family experience oriented environment and acts as a change agent to meet the rapidly changing census and needs of all customers-both internal and external. The PCA measures and records vital signs, intake and output, assists patients with activities of daily living, and provides safe transportation and environment for patients. The PCA is cross trained to support the clinical and clerical sides of the business.
