Job summary

Dayton Children's Hospital is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Assistant for the Cardiology - EKG area at the Main Campus. You will assist nurses with patient care activities, monitor vitals, and support daily living tasks to promote a safe, patient-family centered environment.

Hours: 20 per week, Monday through Friday; days vary, weekends not required. Education required: HSD/GED; PCA training or experience preferred; CPR preferred at hire with a 2-week deadline to obtain if needed.

Qualifications

• PCA training or PCA experience is required or actively enrolled in related program.
• 1-2 years STNA experience in hospital setting preferred.
• CPR is preferred at hire, but must be obtained within 2 weeks of start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist the nurse in completing patient care activities and report patient information as indicated.
• Measure and record vital signs, intake and output, and provide safe transport and environment.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and support both clinical and clerical sides as needed.

Job Details:

Responsible for assisting the nurse in completion of patient care activities, taking into consideration the patient’s developmental levels. Demonstrates strong communication skills, accepts delegated tasks and has the knowledge and understanding to ask questions and report patient information as indicated. Appropriately handles patient information understanding confidentiality and privacy. Complies with the safety management program designed to provide a physical environment free of hazards and to reduce the risk of injury. Is knowledgeable about and responsive to the mission of the hospital. The PCA promotes a patient and family experience oriented environment and acts as a change agent to meet the rapidly changing census and needs of all customers-both internal and external. The PCA measures and records vital signs, intake and output, assists patients with activities of daily living, and provides safe transportation and environment for patients. The PCA is cross trained to support the clinical and clerical sides of the business.
