Job summary

MercyOne Northeast Iowa is hiring a Patient Care Assistant for the MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center. This part-time role (0.6 FTE, 24 hours/week) includes day shift work with weekend and holiday rotations.

You will work with the health care team, monitor patient responses, and help implement care plans aligned with MercyOne’s mission. Education options include Nurse Aide I, Nursing Fundamentals, or TNAP; EMT certification is also acceptable.

Qualifications

• Verification of successful completion of Nurse Aide I Course, Nursing Fundamentals Course, Nurse Aid Competency Test, or Trinity Nursing Assistant Program (TNAP) is required.
• Competency Test or Iowa EMT Certification may be accepted in lieu of coursework.
• Nurse Aide II - Advanced Course is preferred and may be provided post-hire.

Responsibilities

• Identify patient needs and implement the outcome/goal-based plan of care.
• Assist the patient care team in delivering care.
• Communicate relevant clinical information to optimize patient outcomes.

As a Patient Care Assistant at MercyOne, you will work collaboratively with the health care team to provide outcome/goal-based patient care. Observes and reports the patient's response and progress to interventions. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne.

Schedule:

• Part time, 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week)

• Day Shift

• Weekend and holiday rotation required

General Requirements:

• Supports the team in identifying patient needs and implementing the outcome/goal-based plan of care.

• Assists the patient care team in the delivery of care.

• Communicates relevant clinical information to others to optimize patient outcomes/goals.

• Performs unit-based functions as assigned

Education:

Verification (by transcript or certification) of successful completion of one of the following:

• Nurse Aide I Course

• Nursing Fundamentals Course

• Nurse Aid Competency Test

• Successful completion of the Trinity Nursing Assistant Program (TNAP)

• Successful completion of the Competency Test, Iowa Emergency Medical Technician Certification

• Nurse Aide II - Advanced Course is preferred and may be provided post-hire.

Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians while performing their job duties.
