Job description

Salary: $17 - $19 / per hour

A Personal Care Assistant provides support services to assist clients with personal, physical mobility, and therapeutic care needs, as established by healthcare professionals. The role may involve working in various settings, including homes and schools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provides assistance to individuals with daily activities.
  2. Demonstrates competence in performing skills outlined in the care plan.
  3. Performs health care tasks, personal hygiene services, and other support services vital to the client’s health.
  4. Assists with transfers and ambulation.
  5. Supports teachers in helping students learn and provides feedback to students and supervisors/teachers, if applicable.
  6. Performs incidental household services as part of the personal care plan, if applicable.
  7. In school settings, accompanies students on buses to and from school, if applicable.
  8. Provides companionship through reading, listening, and talking with clients.
  9. May assist in supervising students during recess and lunch and accompany students on community experiences.
  10. Strictly adheres to confidentiality requirements.
  11. Assists clients in developing independent skills through self-care activities.
  12. Implements behavior management techniques as directed by supervisors or healthcare practitioners.
  13. Reports changes in client status as per care plan.
  14. Maintains confidentiality of all client, family, and employee information.
  15. Adheres to HIPAA privacy policies and procedures.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
  1. State licensure or certification as required.
  2. One year of relevant experience preferred.
  3. Current BLS certification.
  4. Current PPD or Chest X-Ray.
  5. Knowledge of child growth and development.
  6. Ability to coordinate services among various community resources.
  7. Effective communication skills; proficiency in English may be required.
  8. Computer proficiency.
  9. Must be at least 18 years old.
