Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an on-site IT Support Technician in Roswell, GA to deliver desktop and mobile device support within the city’s computing and telecommunications environment.

You will install, troubleshoot, and upgrade operating systems and hardware, manage asset inventories, and guide end users in effective application use, while coordinating with vendors and maintaining thorough documentation.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in computer science or closely related field.
  • One year of experience in personal computer support.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may qualify.
  • On-call availability.
  • Ability to learn and apply city or departmental policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and analyze data.
  • Ability to coordinate activities and resolve problems using judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to operate, overhaul, restore, renovate, construct, and rebuild equipment according to standards and specifications.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic, calculate decimals and percentages, use fractions, and interpret graphs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide desktop solutions and advanced technical support for applications, systems, software, hardware, mobile devices, audio/visual equipment, and networking.
  • Provide on-site and remote end-user support and maintenance in the City’s computing and telecommunications environment.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade personal computer operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals, and equipment.
  • Assess user training needs and guide users in effective application use.
  • Recommend hardware and software acquisitions based on user and departmental needs.
  • Administer, troubleshoot, and upgrade mobile devices, including iOS, Windows Mobile, and Android platforms.
  • Acquire, install, set up, and provision mobile devices; evaluate and recommend mobile technology solutions.
  • Administer and troubleshoot telecommunications, including desktop phones, accounts, Fonality, analog service lines, and emergency call boxes.
  • Maintain asset inventory control, mobile device management, system and device images, software updates, patch management, and mobile app monitoring.
  • Support installation, integration, operation, and maintenance of audio/visual and security equipment.
  • Provide documentation, operational training, and technical support to end users, staff, user champions, and elected officials
  • Escalate unresolved mechanical and application issues to vendors
  • Monitor equipment and supply inventories, obtain vendor quotes, prepare equipment specifications, and assist with bid processes
  • Communicate with supervisors, departments, employees, the public, and other stakeholders to coordinate work and resolve problems

Job description
