Job Summary and Qualifications

What you will do:

  • Show sensitivity to patient and co-worker needs.
  • Respond promptly to physicians, families, co-workers, and visitors.
  • Operate a keyboard, telephone, and two-way radio with manual dexterity.
  • Use the hospital directory to identify station numbers and relay calls appropriately.
  • Handle hospital-wide telephone communications courteously and efficiently.
  • Maintain an up-to-date patient locator file based on information from Admitting.
  • Report equipment issues to maintenance or the Telephone Company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Inpatient Services.
  • Use knowledge of equipment relevant to the role.
  • Monitor equipment effectiveness and report issues.
  • Prioritize activities based on work demands.
  • Engage in professional development through inservice programs and education.
  • Participate in hospital and departmental meetings to improve service quality.
  • Communicate concerns about patient care or hospital issues to leadership.
Qualifications:
  • Preferred minimum one year PBX experience.
  • Excellent language and customer service skills required; Spanish proficiency preferred.
